La Marina & Santa Pola

La Marina is a small village of the Southeast coast of Spain. The small village looks over the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. The village is perfect for home lookers as it is small, has all your needs within it and is close to the surrounding areas of Elche, Torrevieja and Alicante.

Santa Pola is a larger town to the northeast of La Marina and continues along the Spanish coast. Overall the town has a population of over 30,000 people. The town is widely associated with fishing and has several tourist attractions. Overall the whole areas of La Marina up to Santa Pola has kilometres of fine sandy beaches. Here you can enjoy downtime or play many sports.

In La Marina there are a lot of activities you can involve yourself in. The village has its own sports complex, where you can get involved in many sports including basketball and football. You can also take a visit to the rather large nature reserve that sits beside the lengthy beaches in the area. The nature reserve is called Parque Alfonso xiii and you can view many different animals and wildlife here.

The town of Santa Pola has many attractions and some tourist spots. Two of the main attractions is the aquarium and the amusement park. The amusement park provides great fun rides and you can also get food within the park. The aquarium features many species from the Mediterranean and other marine wildlife. There is also a camping ground and skate-park in the north of the town. There are also many parks around the town in which you can take a walk or cycle around.

With kilometers of coastline, you always need to check out the beautiful beaches these places have to offer. There is also a mixed bag of bars and restaurants, where you can sit down and have a nice relaxing meal. We recommend the many traditional Spanish cuisine restaurants. You should also expect to see local markets in each of the towns and villages. These markets usually take place weekly and you can find a lot of foods and local clothing. The area is known for golf. Nearby there are plenty of 18-hole courses, you should check out if you are a keen golfer.

Around the areas of La Marina and Santa Pola there are many hospitals and medical centres. There are many general and private hospitals, with the main hospital being in the cities of Torrevieja and Elche. There is a private hospital in Elche also. In the Urban area close to La Marina, there is police station. There is also a station in the town of Santa Pola, so you are never far from authorities. There are also more stations in the cities of Elche and Torrevieja and the surrounding area.

There is also a wide variety of schools around this area, with many in Santa Pola and La Marina.  Many of the schools are public by there is some private schools, pre-schools and secondary schools.

Climate

The climate around the area of La Marina and Santa Pola is very similar to the rest of the region. The warmest month is August and the coolest is January. Temperatures can rise to the late thirty’s and sometimes reach 40 degrees’ if you are lucky. Generally, the month of July leading up to August is the driest and October is the wettest, experiencing the most wet days in a single month.
