With golf increasing in popularity in Spain over the past decades, many more golf courses have been popping up all over Spain. Many courses are regarded as some of the best in Europe and the world. Las Colinas, La Finca and La Marquesa are just three of the many courses within this region. Throughout the Southeast region and the provinces of Alicante, Murcia and nearby Valencia there are over 30 golf courses. Making this area of Spain perfect for golf Enthusiast.
North Costa Blanca
Alenda Golf
Alenda Golf is a fantastic golfing facility and course in the North of the Costa Blanca in Alicante. The golf course was completed in 1999 and opened a short time later. It was designed by Roland Favrat paying close attention to the surrounding environment. One of he great features of this course is that it is exceptionally tricky course for both enthusiasts and professionals alike. The course plays a par 72 over its 18 holes. There is also the ’19th’ hole, which allows user of the course to practice their short and putting game. There is also a driving range to practice your long game that is open till late.
The course also has its very own clubhouse. Within the clubhouse their is a gym, a shop, Padel tennis courts, a kids club and a restaurant. The gym is located within the sports complex of the clubhouse. You are able to perform all your different sessions including group sessions, cardio and instructor sessions here.
There are also multiple padel tennis courts for you to try out your racket skills. The restaurant is open every day of the week to everyone including the public. There is a great terraced area where you can enjoy your meal while watching the golf on the course. You can always enjoy a relaxing drink here after a round of golf. Finally there is a shop to buy all your golfing equipment a kids club to take care of your children while you are out on the course.
You can also live by the course. There is almost 1000’s houses and apartments on the resort, with the great facilities at the resort for all.
Alicante Golf
Alicante Golf course is located close to the city of Alicante, with Alicante being a 5-10 minutes drive away. The course itself is minutes away form the San Juan beach, which is one of most beautiful beauty spots in the Province. With the city of Alicante being virtually on your doorstep, there is always plenty of activities you can take part in. The city has some of the nicest bars and restaurants in the Province.
The course itself is an amazing par 72 over 18 holes. Some of the main features of this course is its lakes. There are 5 in total, proving a challenge on two thirds of the holes on the course. The lakes bring the added challenge to all levels of golfers, which makes this course very competitive. The course is also very well maintained with a great drainage system installed for when the rain comes down. (Which is very rare).
The course was designed by Severiano Ballesteros. His love for the game started at an early age as his father was a landscaper at a course and his uncle was Ramon Sota, a Spanish Champion. In 1974 he became professional and has won many championships including 3 British opens and 2 Masters in Augusta.
On the course there is a pro shop. Here you can buy all your golfing needs to perform your best on the course.
Altea (Don Cayo Golf)
The Don Cayo Golf club, popularly known as the Altea golf club is located on the outskirts on Benidorm near the town of the same name. The town centre of Altea is located a five minutes drive away with Benidorm being just 15 minutes away. The course sits in a beautiful privileged location between the mountains nearby the town and the sea.
The course advertises 9 unique holes but has a total of 18 holes over a par 72. A unique feature of the course that you will see throughout is that a lot of the holes in this course have a large turn in the middle of the hole causing them to be longer holes such as a par 4 or par 5. There isn’t many water hazards compared to other courses, so if you struggle with water this course may be perfect for you.
The club also have their very own golf academy. You start of with a ‘golf baptism’ as it will be many peoples first time attempting the sport. The course also has its very own restaurant with a mixed range of Spanish and International cuisine. There is also a Pro Store and a body care centre, almost like a spa.
Bonalba Golf
Bonalba Golf is a Golf resort located north of the city of Alicante in the Province of Alicante. Overall it is about 15-20 kilometres away from the city. The club itself has much more facilities for all the family excluding the main attraction of the golf course. The course has its very own restaurant with many Traditional Spanish dishes on the menu. Within the resort there is also a bowls club, membership has declined but they are hopeful that it will increase again soon. Other facilities include pedal tennis courts and full size tennis courts. Here you can make great friends off the golf course and test your skills against everyone.
The golf course itself is an 18-hole course, with plenty of wide greens. Overall the course has 5 lakes affecting 7 holes of the course, so you will always need to test your water hazard skills. Many of the first set of 9 holes have plenty of bunkers, with the second set of 9 holes being far fairways.
The resort has plenty of properties you are able to stay within.
Ifach Golf
Ifach Golf club is a Golf course in the Province of Murcia. It is located in the Urbanization of San Jaime which is near the coastal town of Moraira. The course itself has multiple other facilities included a Pro shop, tennis courts, a swimming pool and a Restaurant. The restaurant is called Masia Sant Jaume and offers many Mediterranean dishes. You can enjoy your meal and drink on one of the many outside terraces. To use a tennis court you will more than likely need to have a booking.
The course itself is a small course, offering only 9 holes and uses United States Golf Association rules. You are not allowed to play without socks. There is an extra charge for foreign players who are not federated in Spain.
Javea Golf
The Club de Golf Javea is a golf course in the Province of Alicante along the northern side of the Costa Blanca coastline. It is situated over an hours drive away from Alicante.
The golf course itself is an 18 hole par 72 with a various amount of holes. The main type of hazards on the course are bunkers, very similar to the Ifach course located nearby. The 6th hole is one of the most difficult holes, with the 5 being the longest hole on the course. So you get into the thick of the action quickly. The course is surrounded by beautiful pine forests offering spectacular views of the surrounding area.
Javea like many of the other surrounding courses offer lessons for everyone. There is a clubhouse on the course with many of the other facilities located within it. From the clubhouse you can see much of the surrounding course and views. The restaurant of the course is located in the clubhouse, which has a large menu. There is also a cafeteria, facilities for members to tore their equipment, tennis courts, putting greens, a school and a practice range.
La Sella Golf
La Sella golf is a club sponsored by Lacoste, a massive French clothing brand. It is located in the Montgo natural Park to the North of the Costa Blanca coastline.
The course has 27 holes between 3 sets of 9 holes located in separate parts of the park. Each set of 9 holes have a different name. They are the Llebeig holes, the Gregal holes and the Mestral holes. They are names this due to the wind and climate in that certain of the course. There is an approach area where you are able to test out your putting and a driving range to try out your long shots. Other facilities include a dressing room and a caddy room, in which you can rent out a buggy.
Oliva Nova Golf
Oliva Nova is a beach and Golf resort on the Northern Costa Blanca coastline in Spain. Within the resort there is many facilities. Of course there is the golf course which is 18 holes as well as a hotel and spa, many other sporting facilities and many real estate properties. The hotel on the resort is called the Columbus Hotel. You are able to purchase your own property on the resort ranging from the apartments on the resort to many villas.
The golf course itself is an 18 hole designed by Severiano Ballesteros, who also designed the Alicante golf course. He was a very famous Professional golfer, so you can only expect the best results from this course. Challenging but fun. Throughout the course there are many different types of hazards including many lakes, a river and many bunkers. Always beware of the river as it can catch you out on some of the holes, as you may not realise it is there if it is your first time on the course.
Other than the golf you can enjoy time at the spa or at the many other sporting facilities provided by the resort. There is a gymnasium, multiple tennis and padel courts, football and rugby pitches, horse riding and cycling facilities. So it really is the perfect resort for a sports fanatic.
Sierra Cortina Golf
The Sierra Cortina golf course is a pitch and putt, 18 hole golf course located near Benidorm. In fact it is just minutes away from the cenre of Benidorm as it is located in the nearby FineStrat.
This Pitch and Putt type of course is ideal for all types of golfers, from beginners to the more advanced. The course does not have large holes but some have a great range for a single shot. It is the most ideal type of course to practice shorter shots and putting.
Villataina Golf
Villataina golf is a resort on the outskirts of Benidorm on the Costa Blanca coastline. The resort itself has a Spa, hotel and and 2 golf courses. The resort has over 500 hotel rooms including almost 100 5 star rooms. There are multiple tennis and padel courts, much like the other resort and courses around this area.
The 2 golf courses were designed Nicklaus Design. Nicklaus Design is the worlds most famous and biggest golf course design firm. At the time of writing this they are currently developing 57 courses around the world to add to the 410 courses they have already developed. Overall this means there is a total of 36 holes you can [play at this course. The 18 holes of the Poniente course and the Levante course. Both courses have been designed with the environment in mind.
South Costa Blanca
Campoamor Golf
Real Club de Golf Campoamor Resort is a golf club and resort in the urbanization of Cabo Roig/ Dehesa de Campoamor. It is located the Las Colinas and Villamartin golf courses. The resort itself is located nearby the town of Campoamor that has lovely beaches. There is also a hotel in the resort as well as many sports facilities. Some of the sports facilities they have include 2 gyms, 3 tennis courts, four padel tennis courts and football fields.
The golf course itself is a lovely par 72 course with 18 holes. It has been around for quite a while challenging hobbyists and professionals alike. You can also become a member of the course for a fee of either 1, 2, 3, 6 or 12 months. The longer your membership is the cheaper it will be.
On the resort there are many different types of properties you can buy. There is a mixed range of turnkey, commercial and plots you can purchase on the resort. They range from apartments and bungalows to large villas.
Lo Romero
Lo Romero is a golf course and resort in the Southeast Province of Alicante near the town of Mil Palmeras. The whole surrounding area is great and is an all year round destination. Apart from the golf course, you can visit the many beaches, mountain ranges and natural parks that surround the area.
The golf course itself is an 18 hole par 72 course. It was designed to fit nicely into the environment. The course has great sea views and a great surrounding environment. There are multiple hazards per every hole.
El Plantio
El Plantio is a golf resort to the south of Alicante in Southeast Spain. It is also very close to the Alicante Airport which is around a 5 minutes drive away. At the resort there is a hotel in which you can rent out your own apartments for your stay. There are both 2 and 3 bedroom apartments you can stay in.
The golf course at El Plantio was developed in 1993 and has since became one of the best and known golf courses in the region for its practice courts. There is a golf school at the resort that is taught by certified Spanish Golf Federation staff. So you will always be in good hands. The school is ideal for anyone wanting ton learn how to golf as there is classes for juniors and seniors.
At the hotel there is a fantastic restaurant that create an amazing menu for the food lovers and the fussy eaters alike. Also in the resort there is a gymnasium, a football pitch and a few pedal tennis courts around the resort.
Font de Llop
Font de Llop is a golf resort to the West of Alicante. It is very connected to other parts of Spain including Murcia, Madrid and Elche. The club house is a lovely house with many different areas for members to store their own bags. There is also a changing room and a shop for the rest of the visitors to enjoy their time at the resort. There is also a restaurant at the clubhouse.
The course itself is an 18 hole par 72 course spread over the entire resort. Throughout the summer months there are many tournaments that take part on the course. They also are currently developing a golfing school and many different types of classes and lessons including husband and wife lessons. There are two practice areas including a putting green and a driving range.
The restaurant at Font de Llop is very unique as they have a coffee shop, you can get take away plus there means is filled with great meal ideas. You can also hold events at the restaurant.
La Finca Golf
La Finca is near the town of Algorfa and offers a par 72, 18-hole course. The difference between this course and Las Colinas course is that this course is only a resort whereas Las Colinas offers permanent housing and apartment. The resort is also a spa which is great for some down time.
The course itself has 18 holes and is part of the QUARA group who also on the Las Rambles and the VillaMartin course located nearby. It was designed by Pepe Gancedo, who is a 6 time winner of the Spanish Golf Championships. It was opened in 2002 and was designed to take into consideration the surrounding environment with many different hazards and challenges on each hole.
Throughout the resort there is a wonderful restaurant that you can try a bunch of Mediterranean cuisine. There is also a suite lounge club which is the resorts take on a nightclub, spicing up the nightlife on the resort. This is great place to relax with your friends and enjoy lively music.
La Marquesa
La Marquesa is a golf course that was developed in 1989 by D. Justo Quesada and was first known as the Quesada golf club. It is located near the town of Rojales and Quesada. It is also located near the city of Torrevieja and would take around a 20 minute drive to get to the city.
The golf course itself changed its name to La Marquesa in 1994. It is an 18 hole par 71 golf course, which makes it very competitive for the region. There are various hazards around the course that provide different challenges on certain courses including water and bunker hazards.
Beside the Golf course is the La Laguna hotel which has its very own Mediterranean restaurant, a gym and many meeting rooms, which would be great for conferences.
Las Rambles
The Las Rambles course is the second course in Southwest Spain owned by the QUARA group. The others being the La Finca and the VillaMartin course. There is a club house at the Las Rambles course.
The course itself is a par 72, 18 hole course. It was also designed by Pepe Gancedo who is a world famous Pro Golfer and Golf course designer. It is great that he is the designer as he can implement any challenges he faced in his career to make the courses he designs challenging. Around the course there are multiple water hazards including several lakes, a river and some ponds. So always be aware of the water.
From the clubhouse you can enjoy views of the the incredible course and the surrounding area. This is all while enjoying a relaxing drink and Mediterranean meal.
Las Colinas Golf & Country Club
The club sits in a perfect and privileged location within a gated and exclusive residential community. The community is secured 24/7 to put your mind at ease at night and when you are away. Surrounded by hills within a valley, it makes it the perfect place for gold course. Everything is built with the surrounding environment in mind. All buildings including homes as well as the course blend into the environment very well, giving you a sense that you are part of the environment around you.
There are many activities you can get up to around the resort and community from their very own restaurants and many other sport facilities. There is only one entrance into the community and it is through a spectacular canyon-styled entrance.
One of the main activities to get up to within the gated community is obviously golf. The course is one of the best in Spain and ranks within the best 100 courses around Europe.
Villamartin
The Villamartin golf course is located near the city of Torrevieja and was opened in 1972. The club is very well established as it has its own committee and board of directors.
The course itself is a par 72 course designed by Paul Putman. The first nine holes are built on the more hilly ground of the course and the second set of 9 are situated in the valleys of the course. From the first 9 holes you can see the Med.
Vistabella Golf
Vistabella golf is a golf course is the Alicante Province, near the city of Orihuela and Torrevieja. It is a golf course in the urbanisation of the small village of Vistabella. To get to Alicante the capital of the Province it would take you around just under an hours drive depending on the traffic of course.
The club’s course was designed by Manuel Pinero, a former Professional golfer who has took part in the European tour and many other professional tournaments for himself and Spain. He has helped to shape the course with the many challenges he faced in his career, giving everyone the opportunity to challenge themselves. The course is now 18 holes as it used to be only 9 while the final 9 got finished. With three lakes and many bunkers around the course it is truly challenging.
Around the course there are other facilities including many tennis and padle tennis courts. Here you can relax after a few rounds of golf and compete with the many other players around the site.
Vistabella Golf is associated with Vistabella homes, who offer a range of homes of the course and in Vistabella. In the urbanization they are currently building many other homes. You even have the opportunity to design your own home.
