Benijofar & Rojales

Benijofar & Rojales

Benijofar/Rojales and the surrounding areas

Benijofar and Benimar are located North West of Terroveija and South West of the Capital of the Province Alicante (Alicante Area). Benijofar is a small village with over 4,000 residents and you can be some of the next residents.

Here you can enjoy many activities including visits to many of the local restaurants and bars and many walking/cycling routes. There is a range of restaurants including traditional Spanish Tapas and international cuisine restaurants, so you can be spoilt for choice. You can also get a nice cold relaxing drink at one of the many bars located around the village.

There are two parks with great walking and cycling routes and a route to the Three Crosses Viewpoint, which offers amazing views of the surrounding area. Shops for all your needs are never far away with banks, shops and a pharmacy nearby as well as a large grocery store near the residential Benimar. Benijofar has great transport links with the close sea side city of Torrevieja as well as a local school. There is also a public pool for all the residents to use.

Beside Benijofar is the town of Rojales situated on the river Segura. This town is bigger and more populated than its neighbor. Here you can get up to more activities such as seeing more attractions and landmarks

Here you can visit the natural salt lakes no more than a 10-minute journey from the town centre. Great if you are a nature lover as Flamingo’s visit here depending on the time of year. There is also the two Gasparito Wells. One in now a gallery, so there’s something for the art lovers and one is still in operation. The nearby Azud dam is also still in operation which dates back as far as the 1500’s.

Every year Rojales and its locals have three fiestas. The most important happening on the 29th June to celebrate and honor the patron Saint of Saint Peter.

One of the best attractions and is what Rojales is famous for is their Cave houses to the south of the town. We highly recommend visiting these caves.

Very similar to its neighbor, Rojales has many restaurants to choose from. The restaurants vary in the cuisine they provide. You can expect to see traditional Spanish cuisine and other European foods.

Nearby is Los Palacios and the village of Formentera del Segura. Formentera del Segura is situated just of the river Segura hence the name. It is a very cosy village with a few shops and restaurants and a local sports field.

Nearby Activities

As well as pubs and restaurants around Rojales and Benijofar, there is also other activities you can get up to, a small journey away. Just a 10/15-minute car journey away there are several beaches in the town of Guardamar del Segura and Campomar. There is also a sports facility in Rojales and a golf course only five minutes away. A water park and theatre are in nearby Quesada. So, there’s always something to do with friends and family.

The weather in this region of Alicante is very similar to the cities north of this region. This makes Benijofar and Rojales an all year round town to get a nice tan. The warmest months are the summer months of July, August and September with August usually being the warmest out of the three. The coolest month in January and the wettest is October.

Generally in this region it does not rain that often.

There are several ways to get around this part of the Alicante region. You can get a bus, taxi or drive yourself. Two of the main places you would be wanting to go to is the cities of Alicante and Torrevieja. To get to Alicante it will take you between half an hour to an hour, but we would recommend driving or getting a bus because a taxi might be quite expensive. Torrevieja would take you between 20-30 mins to reach by car or bus.
